Our Mission

The mission of the Marah Christian Counseling Center (MCCC) is to provide services in Northern Virginia through a holistic counseling ministry for all who are in need.  This includes individuals, families, groups, and children, with a particular emphasis on underserved populations.

The main focus is on sharing the love of God, ever stressing that God's love enables one to overcome sin and its consequences.  Through a spiritual counseling ministry that transcends any specific denomination, Marah Christian Counseling Center will provide care, assessment, and case management that is multi-displinary and client-centered. 

Our Center

In May 2001, God gave the Rev. Deloris Washington, a vision to create a Christian counseling center which would provide care and counseling to those persons facing everyday stresses in their lives.  These stresses would include, but not be limited to:  domestic violence; teenage pregnancy; anger, anxiety; depression, fear; lack of meaningful relationships; and diseases, which include HIV/AIDS.  

In December 2006, the center opened and the vision is being fulfilled today.  We are helping individuals achieve liberation from prisons of unlived life; unused assets, and wasted strengths.

Who We Are

Rev. Dr. Deloris Washington is the founder of the center.  She began her Christian counseling ministry in 1992, as a pastoral counselor at the First Baptist Church of Merrifield, Virginia, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Lenwood Graham.

Dr. Washington is a Certified Marriage and Family Therapist.  She is presently writing a book on the need for Christian Counseling in the black community. 

Dr. Washington holds a BA degree in Theology, MA and PhD degrees in Christian Counseling Psychology, and is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of the Carolina University of Theology.  Additionally, Dr. Washington is a professor on staff of the Carolina University where she teaches Old Testament History.
